Emmanuel.. God with US.
'Tis the season to stop a moment and reflect back on 2009, its ups n downs and its lessons learnt. Well, here's a list of things I'm grateful and really praise God for for 2009... (not in order)
1) City in Worship experience - rallying with other churches in praise and worship to our King, meeting new friends.
2) Worship Central concert by Tim Hughes and Al Gordon in DUMC, KL - a real inspiration and encouragement for me and Andrew and a fun time for both of us.
3) Having a wonderful opportunity to share about Jesus, my Saviour to my beloved students in TARC, CCS Y1S1 and getting to know them better throughout the course, encouraging them to always look ahead :)
4) Stepping out in faith and boldness to lead worship with Yinz, Joe, though nervous as I am, thank You Jesus, He takes centre stage!
5) Learning to surrender to God my area of weaknesses and asking God to help change me.
6) Spending time with my family and relatives, my dogs and friends.
7) Reading Chris Tomlin's book - "The Way I Was Made" - borrowed from Yinz (thanks!) it really inspired me and encouraged me in worship and living a life of humble submission to Christ. (hey, even great worship leaders had to learn tough lessons!)
8) Watching some great movies this year - Transformers2 - the Rise of the Fallen, Avatar (latest one, really cool!!!)...
9) Celebrating our 2nd year anniversary recently, and discovered, how much we've grown in these 2 years to be more patient, understanding, gracious and supportive of each other.
10) Learning to accept other ppl as who they are and to take things not so seriously too many times.
11).... still thinking*.... :P
Anyway, it's Christmas time again, ppl are ready with their gifts, new clothes or carolling, but before all that, I spent some time this morning praising Jesus, for it is for US, that He came, leaving His glorious throne in heaven, to walk among man, to be in this dark and hopeless world, bringing light, joy, peace and hope. There isn't any reason we deserve to be saved, it's purely by His grace alone.
Emmanuel, God with us. He came, to be with US... that's right, to bring hope to the hopeless and dark world... this child born, this Saviour King, humble and meek, truly awesome and wonderful. So, just before all the celebration of gathering among families and friends and giving thanks, I really want this day, to be about Him... to be adoring Him, to be praying for nations to worship Him... the King of kings and Lord of lords.
The Christmas Open House in Penang Times Square last weekend was a great point of gathering of the local churches to worship Jesus openly and publicly, making Him known, lifting Jesus high especially so ppl won't be thinking it's about Santa Claus or anything. hehe..
Anyway, this 25th, we're having a simple Christmas party in church, for some of the young ones and the young at hearts :) Hope to have a blessed and fun time ;)
